The African Diaspora Marketplace (ADM) and its partners (The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Western Union (WU), Deloitte, the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), Homestrings, Small Enterprise Assistance Funds and The George Washington Center for International Business Education and Research (GW-CIBER)) would like to congratulate and acknowledge the 35 ADM III Business Plan Competition Finalists who have been invited to present their business plans at the African Diaspora Marketplace III – African Business Expo and Awards Event. The African Business Expo and Awards Event will be held at the Silver Springs Civic Building located at One Veteran’s Plaza, Silver Springs, Maryland on September 15-16, 2015. This unique event will provide an opportunity for hundreds of diaspora leaders, entrepreneurs and business owners to engage with potential partners and take advantage of available resources for business growth and future investment in Africa. On Tuesday, September 15, 2015 there will be exhibits by the 35 ADM III Business Plan Competition Finalists in an open “marketplace.” Additionally, each Finalist will present their business plans to Judges. The marketplace will continue into the morning of Wednesday, September 16, 2015 and eventually culminate in the ADM III Awards Ceremony commencing at 1pm.
An integral part of this event will be an opportunity for the Economic Counselors/Trade Attachés of the participating embassies to interact directly with the Finalists and diaspora business owners from their respective countries on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 from 9:30am – 12:30am. Economic Counselors/Trade Attachés can provide a summary of investment programs available in their countries, a list of SME programs and investment incentives for the country and guidance on in-country investment laws and regulations. Hosted by the African Affairs Advisory Group (AAAG) of Montgomery Country Maryland, the African Business Expo will also offer a variety of networking events and concurrent informative workshops. The event will serve to send an empowering message to the African diaspora community, and others interested in doing business in Africa, of the potential opportunity to promote trade and investment between the US and Africa.
